CONNECTIONS is an original composition from AKATAPU and LITO, performed by the Lito & Akatapu. CONNECTIONS has a nice jazzy-latin feel, kind of like a Sergio Mendez movement. With Uncle LITO on bass, young 16 yr old Akatapu, on guitar, smooths out the piece with some nice lines in between the melody, playing with octaves and using a nice staccato feel while the tune moves along and take you on yet another ride with L A. This song connects traditional Spanish Flamenco sounds with Gypsy, Rock, Pop and Progressive styles. The song was performed live at Mama Matas’ in Rarotonga, Cook lslands without any overdubs. Listen as these two very talented musicians trade back and forth, while noting this young guitarist is only 16.
“I’m Just Human” is another beautiful original composition by LITO, performed by the amazing duet called “L A”, LITO & AKATAPU,. This smooth ballad allows these two fine musicians young and old, young 16 yr old guitarist and older bass player Uncle Lito to take you on a wonderful journey displaying their LOVE of sharing their music with you. CHASING DREAMS is an original song written by LITO- bass player for the group LA, and features young guitarist AKATAPU. This song was recorded LIVE at Mama Matas’ in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. In my aging mind, I can “feel” this songs’ movements to mirror some of the old ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND sounds through the drums, and guitar-bass exchanges and passages. Although this dynamic-duo is ONLY two pieces vs 6-8 that the ALLMAN BROTHERS HAD, not including fact that legendary guitarists Duane Allman and Dickie Betts comprised their lineup and this young guitarist was only born in 2005- Yet this short piece allows you to Chase Your DREAMS for a while!
KUTSILYO (translated from Filipino/Tagalog means KNIFE). This original composition by AKATAPU connects and crosses over Spanish Flamenco, Gypsy music, modern- progressive-alternative and classic Rock. Writing, recording, arranging and performing all instruments and drum programming was done by young 16 yr old Guitarist- AKATAPU. Enjoy the ride!
